Interview 1

It must be hard to write a soap and keep the storylines fresh and exciting, i certainly couldn't do it so i take my hat off to Vicky Davies, the author of Stick to the status quo. I had the chance this week to interview her about the soap and find out how she does it. This is what she had to say.

Tell me a bit about Stick to the status quo
*Laughs* Well to start with it gets abit annoying using the full title all the time, so i do like to shorten it to Status Quo (with no relevance to the band at all) but yeah Status Quo follows the lives of people in a fictional town called Red Field, it's actually mainly about two characters in particular, Dennis and Sharon, although I haven't used Sharon quite as much as Dennis at this stage. As i said though they are the main people but we do follow the lives of other people living in Red Field particualarly the students and teachers at the school and ocassionally we add in a family member or an outsider.

You mentioned having not used the character of Sharon much, should viewers be worried?
Not at all, i have spoke to Letitia Dean who plays Sharon and she knows where I plan to take the character and she is very excited, as am I about what the future holds for Sharon and viewers can expect some drama heading her way very soon.

That sounds great, so can you give us any clues as to what is coming up in Status Quo?
I can, but not too much, i'll start with Sharon, she is about to get some big news that will change her life, and viewers will get some backlog of the character, she isn't all that she seems. There are also some new people coming in, i've let the fans in on one new character in particular, Stacey Wood, she is the super bitch and boy does she cause a stir, she actually causes one character to go psycho so look out for that.

How do you keep storylines so fresh and exciting? It can't be easy.
Actually it is, i think it really helps when you are writing something you believe in and really enjoy. I fully believe that the characters would act the way they are, Dennis in particular, you can't predict him, i believe that viewers thought he was a bit of a bad boy, and they are half right, but he has a nice side and we are starting to really see that with Tommy and Jordan but don't get too comfortable he will change again.

Is anyone set to leave?
Yes they are but I am going to be naughty and say I don't want to give too much away there but there is a really explosive exit planned but how many will get caught up in that is yet to be seen.
